This report covers air pollution, cigarette smoke, pesticides, toxic chemicals, and lead. It outlines the harm caused by each to pregnant women and children, the particular ways these problems affect the Bronx, and some victories won by community activists in enacting pollution restrictions. Also included are the results of a Bronx Health Link survey of Bronx residents and workers about their knowledge and opinions on environmental problems. The report also offers recommendations for action to combat these problems.
