Advocacy

Education, research, and advocacy are three critical aspects to the work of  BHL as we research and report on the health problems of  Bronx residents and collaborate with other like-minded,  community agencies toward the goal of good health care for all.

What We Do...

Our goal is to amplify the voices of Bronx residents in order to challenge and change the gaps and injustices in today's healthcare and environmental policies. BHL has two working advocacy groups:  Community Health Advocates and a Consumer Advisory Group.  They focus on issues impacting negatively on the poor, under-served residents in particular Bronx neighborhoods, communities of color and immigrants.  In order to develop policies that improve health conditions and services, we work closely with medical institutions,  city, state and federal government agencies, and legislative bodies – City Council, New York State Legislature, United States Congress, and advisory groups such as the Governor's Council on Minority Health.
